first off, did you witness the in-tenseness of the sky last night? this mysterious, copper hue filled the air around 9ish, combined with bright white clouds and a couple rainbows. very surreal.

anywho…where did this weekend go? my weekend basically consisted of bday celebrations. friday night started at reddstone, where i ordered yet another turkey panini. this spot is quickly becoming one of my neighborhood favorites.

next, the clan headed over to the speakeasy at mcnulty’s bier markt for moe’s 30th. she def does not look 30. but she is 30. which basically means you are no longer a young adult. you are now a for realz kind of adult. can you sense the bitterness? i say this because i will be turning the big 3-0 sooner than later.

plum, moe and me.

the last stop of the night was the flying monkey in tremont, which was HOT. and by hot, i mean sticky, humid, damp, moist hot. nonetheless, the night still ended with an impromptu dance party. thank you “omg” by usher.

the majority of saturday was spent with the family for my aunt dana’s bday. we started at l’albatros, which is still my absolute favorite restaurant in this city. again, the service and food was excellent.

we hopped over to my neighborhood for some libations at stone mad. props to eileen and pete for the new fountain on the patio. it looks great! also spent some more quality time at the painters lofts (my place) for some more laughs and bonding. i love my family.

in the heat of the night on friday, lzone decided a sunday funday would be a wise decision (this was also moe’s actual bday). we all agreed. this was actually my first time at the sunset grille on whiskey island. and if i had to describe it in one word, that word would be “eclectic”. there were your obvious boaters, mixed in with hipsters, country folk and urban professionals. if you want to people watch, you need to get down to this place. you will not be disappointed.

it’s going to be another beautiful week in cle. the weather is looking promising and so is the week ahead. if you haven’t made your fourth of july plans, you better get on that!

word of the day – captain

whoaaa…what a week! between a busy work schedule, board meetings and happy hours, i have not had a chance to blog. i guess this is a good thing and a bad thing.

did you realize that christmas is only 6 months away!?! i hate to put that out there, but let’s be honest — time is precious, so spend it wisely.

i was going to blog about something interesting/philosophical today but again, time is a wasting and tonight is moe kyle’s 30th birthday! should be a good time tonight at the speakeasy at bier markt.

a fun weekend awaits. i will be back next week for some better blog posts. i promise!

word of the day – wicked

the awe inspiring lights of the solstice party.

i keep repeating myself. it was another great weekend. it seems that since i started this little blog, every weekend thus far has been above average to excellent. however, these funductive (productive + fun) weekends have taken a toll on the pad. i reaaallly need to do some hardcore cleaning. my closet is ridic. not the good kind of ridic.

let’s chat about this past weekend. my friday night started at luxe with the usual detroit shoreway suspects. i cannot get enough of that patio. i believe we were the last ones to leave and i apologize to the staff who had to put up with our shenanigans. but i know you love us.

we later strolled a little north to reddstone where i had to order another turkey panini (which i had the previous tuesday). they recently updated their menu and i suggest you try it. the night was beautiful and one of the best things about living in the city is the abundance of super cool patios. def not as adequate as the “patios” at crocker park.

saturday consisted of the usual errands and the 2nd annual solstice party at the cleveland museum of art. this party is just going to get bigger and better. the crowd was magnificent. very cosmopolitan and incredibly cool. i would like to pre-order my tickets now for next year. and may i add a suggestion for next year’s music feast…passion pit would be an amazeballs option. they would fit right in. think about it cle museum of art. think about it.

spent sunday with the ski clan. visited the small town of rittman to pay my grandpa ski a visit at the ohio western reserve national cemetery. he past away this past december (worst december ever) and i miss him dearly. we also headed to holy cross cemetery to visit my grandpa fedak and uncle ross. of course i cried a little. i am a sensitive polish boy. not going to lie.

sunday night ended at bzone’s house for dinner and hilariousness. she is one of the many reasons why i love living in this neighborhood.

it’s a busy week ahead. i will talk to you kids later.

word of the day – simplicity

of course it's hot in cle. our river was on flames at one point.

i have come to the conclusion that tuesday is the worst day of the week. think about it. it is.

however, this past tuesday was the best tuesday ever. i was invited to a vip party for the premiere of tvland’s “hot in cleveland” by the lovely schwan schwan. the plum and lzone also joined along with some more plum friends and 33.3% of the board of love (the bol will be discussed in a later post).

now i could discuss the entire night with you but it would be ridiculously similar to the plum’s blog post today. i was with her the whole night and she beat me to the punch. so please visit clevelandsaplum.com for the captivating sequence of events (and funny photos).

it’s been another busy week and i would like to bring up my dinner from last night. lzone and i went to touch supper club and if you have only been for dj events, you must try the food. i highly suggest the “pork and pork” and the mac n’ cheese. you will be craving more the next day. believe me.

can’t wait for the weekend. it’s father’s day on sunday so make sure to give your pops some props.

this weekend is also the solstice party at the cleveland museum of art. last year (the first solstice party) i did not attend, but i am not missing out this year after hearing how wonderful it was. cannot wait!

word of the day – guest

i can’t say it enough. and i don’t care if it starts to annoy you. i love living in cle. this past weekend was a blast. let’s recap.

friday night included yet another outing with the “party people” crew. the usual suspects were involved (the nug, robby, jeremiah and rick). lots of libation and lots of fun.

saturday started slow but i was pumped for the made in the 216 event. we began the afternoon in my hood at latitude 41 with robby for a goodbye breakfast. roberto is visiting the jolly old town of london and i am incredibly jealous.

in the evening, the beautiful dwags joined me and the nug for dinner at luxe. took a stroll to lakewood to the pop shop gallery for their $50 show. scored a fantastic skateboard piece. i highly recommend you get there as soon as the doors open. i would have bought at least 3 more pieces — if they weren’t already sold. afterwards, headed to made in the 216 and was very excited to see such a great turnout. once again — great artists and inspiration

home sweet home.

being part of the detroit shoreway revitalization has been similar to watching a child grow up. i feel like i am part of something special and i greatly admire the hard work that so many talented local ambassadors put into their communities. if i were to name names, i would be talking about matt zone and danielle deboe. you guys are truly incredible.

after dwags left, i had to make a pit stop at CPT for the final hurrah (aka dance party). the fabulous zone family (beth, matt, madelyn, etc.) were present as well as cle all-star jseabury (my tan-off competition). the party was a blast. i think i laughed about a million times. and the sweat was pouring in gallon increments (from dancing of course). one last stop was made at stone mad where i finally got to meet eileen, who owns this stunning jewel on 65th. if you haven’t seen this place (including the lower level bathrooms) you must go. the craftsmanship is unreal.

sunday funday was spent in youngstown with the stevens family. while i am not the biggest fan of ytown, i was excited to see the whole gang. plus, the food at the graduation party was pretty darn impressive.

so that was my weekend. i hope yours was amazeballs.

another busy week is ahead and tomorrow i will be attending the premiere of “hot in cleveland” hosted by tower city and positively cleveland. that should be a good time. and maybe this is one step closer to a potential cameo appearance. have your people call my people.

word of the day – nice

due me at the sandbar.

another enjoyable weekend has past. it was fun. wish it would have lasted just a little longer, but the next one will be here before we know it.

with many festivities already set in place for this summer, i do hope to get on the boat more often than last year. it’s sad to say, but going to the marina has almost become a chore (never thought i would say that).

needless to say, i do enjoy it very much and hope to own my own vessel one day (preferably co-owning with the rents or brothers). note to self – if you are ever interested in owning a boat, co-ownership would be a good option.

and if you do end up with a floating piece of fiberglass (or wood), one crucial decision is the name. this is an issue in the ski family. our current cruiser was owned by a lawyer in kentucky, which doesn’t really provide any meaning or rationale in his decision to name the 34 foot silverton, “due me”.

yea. you would think my parents would have changed that 4 years ago when we bought this one, right? it’s embarrassing and there is always need for explanation when someone asks. we brainstormed options a couple years ago and yet we still have not changed her name. i believe some of our picks were ohana, after 5 and dockski (i just came up with that one). needless to say, we need to change it. now.

however, i will give my dad props when he suggested naming my brother’s boat last year. when it was docked next to my parents, he thought “due me II” would have been appropriate. come on. that is pretty funny. but still embarrassing.

word of the day – erie

this memorial day weekend was pretty epic. i probably could go on for quite some time recapping the shenanigans, but instead i will break it, break it down:

friday – ken stewart’s for brothers bday, map room, too many friends to list, bed by 5:30 a.m.

saturday – shopping, cook-out at kyle’s, party bus with stops at shooters and bling pig

sunday – boating, rescue mission, margaritaville

monday – more boating, rain, sadness

i probably could write about 20 things that surfaced from this past weekend. i am going to collect them and save them for future posts because some are just to interesting to not write about. however, i would like to discuss one of those topics – age.

while dancing with family and friends on the dock at shooters, i realized how old my brother was turning, how old i am and how depressing it can be. the age range that night probably spanned from 18-60, which keeps things interesting. personally, i have friends in this same age range, however, i find that many others have friends within a 5-10 year gap.

isn’t this boring? wouldn’t you want to surround yourself with all walks of life?

you learn an absurd amount of information from friends aged 18 to 65.

you will laugh. allot.

you will become a better person. or at least a more well-rounded one.

and don’t judge. we all judge, including myself, but you will probably find that some of those people you may not consider friend material may just be your next bff.
