if you were reading facebook status updates and tweets this past weekend, you know that ingenuityfest was a hot topic. it was an amazing time and as jseabury put it (via his foursquare check-in shout out), i fell in love with cle all over again.

the lifeline waterfall, as simple as it was, really attracted a crowd both on the bridge and off. the shot below was taken in the industrial area of the flats and it was incredible to see the amount of people pulling off the side of the road to get out and admire the simple beauty of water and light. i couldn’t get enough of it.

the awe inspiring, industrial, raw beauty of the "lifeline"

other installations that had me inspired included dr. sketchy’s doodle bar, the waterfall swing and wash away (which was created by friend and neighbor, qian li!) aside from the art and technology mix, it was hella fun dancing at the end of the night to the dj stylings of p-10 and subvader.

additional weekend festivities included a visit to reddstone, house flippin’, chalk’s 30th birthday at hoopples, more dancing at the gclub and a sunday filled with absolutely nothing.

it’s a busy week ahead. october will be here by friday. start thinking about your halloween costumes.

word of the day – kaleidoscope

i am getting really excited for ingenuityfest this weekend. starting tomorrow, hundreds of artists, musicians and performers will gather on the lower level of the detroit superior bridge to create a magical, unique treat for the masses. and this year, the entire event is free!

if you have not been in the subway catacombs of the bridge, you must go simply to see this great urban space. combining the space with art, music, lighting, dance and technology really create quite a scene. walking across the span of the bridge is also a treat in itself. as you walk towards the middle, the steel grates you stand upon provide an intense (and frightening) view of the cuyahoga river below.

this year, a “lifeline waterfall” installation will create a very cool backdrop to the event. and since i am a huge fan of anything that has to do with water, i will most likely stand next to this installation for quite some time.

is it weird that i like running water? i remember as a young lad, i would make it a point to sneak into the bathroom when someone was showering and set a pillow and blanket on the floor. i would just lay there and often nap because i simply loved the sound. or maybe it’s just odd that i snuck into the bathroom when someone was showering. to this day i sometimes consider napping on the bathroom floor when i turn the shower faucet on. i know. i sound a little crazy.

the weather is looking pretty nice for the weekend, so make sure you visit the 2010 ingenuityfest!

some wp razzle dazzle.

i am still recovering from this weekend. i had a blast and i hope that the nug and i didn’t disappoint. and by that, i mean if you were in attendance at our 2nd annual white party, i hope we supplied enough fun and shenanigans for you.

it was so nice to see so many familiar and not-so familiar faces. if i didn’t get to formally introduce myself to you, i most likely was on the dance floor. i do hope you all had the chance of meeting the pope, who was a surprise guest.

the pope clearly saw some inappropriate things.

the night went very smoothly and absolutely nothing horrible happened (or at least nothing that i know of) and i would like to take this opportunity to thank my parents and nug’s parents for helping. we could not have done this without you. and i hope you know how much we love you.

i also want to make a shout out to evan evolution for being awesome. you really kept the dance floor ablaze. and it literally was on fire by 1:00 am with the amount of party people shaking it down.

party people on the floor. put yo hands up!

we are already thinking about the 3rd annual bash. we’re thinking next year’s wild card color will be some shade of green.

word of the day – fun

we have experienced a definite change in the weather the past couple days. and after this summer, i am extremely excited for lower temperatures, sweaters and bonfires.

that said, we all know that change is good. whether you like it or not, we all must make changes and sacrifices. recently, i have noticed many friends and family members have begun new exercise regimens and diets. what has encouraged everyone to start these resolutions now?  let’s just call this month, “sexy september”.

if we rewind to january of this year, i made a resolution and have kept to it…to a point. i would like to gain weight. which means i need to eat more and lift weights. i am pretty sure i haven’t gained anything since january. i have gone through a couple tubs of protein shakes but have been very sporadic with exercise.

how do you keep motivated? how do you fit in exercise with everything else going on in your life?

i think i may need to spend money to force me into it. maybe i should join a gym or even go to the next level and work with a personal trainer. i feel like i need that extra push.

now that is a pool party.

this weekend is (un)officially the last weekend of summer. in a way this makes me happy due to the absurd amount of 90+ degree weather we have had. however, this is also the end of all the fantastic spring/summer events in cle. while there is much to do in the fall and winter, there is now the absence of patio happy hour time.

you better make sure you use these last summer days with careful consideration. my recommendation? you should probably spend some time outside. go to the park or beach or simply sit in your backyard with your feet in a kiddie pool and a pina colada in your hand.

my weekend will consist of half wedding and half boating. it would be fun to combine the two, wouldn’t it? we would need a much larger boat. which i am totally not opposed too.

the weather will hopefully be satisfactory. if you do not yet have labor day weekend plans, you may want to consider the natural gas taste of cleveland (i know this is the sponsor, but really?), the burke lakefront air show or oktoberfest at the berea fairgrounds.

have a great weekend!
