we like to party. and by “we”, i mean nug, plum, ck and myself. and this is evident by this past weekend’s 90s dance party. about a month or so ago, we concocted the idea during a sunday funday where we discussed some of the best music, fashion and trends of said era.

while some may scoff at theme parties, i believe that decade parties are pretty much just plain awesome. the best part is obvi the music but the second best thing is the costume selection.

please enjoy the accompanying photos…

white socks and docs.

ms. plum (certified art teacher) & gangsta seanski

the belle of the ball. please note that overalls are included in this ensemble.

ck and hartzell bustin' a move.

party people!

pictures are one thing, but i think the party is basically summed up in the dance highlights video. i must note that some actions that take place are not intended for younger audiences.

moving to the detroit shoreway neighborhood two years ago was the best decision i have ever made. in the short time span, many new establishments have opened in the d-sho, including wall eye gallery, frank’s falafel house, battery park wine bar and xyz the tavern.

this time, the newest addition brings some old-school flavor with a modern twist. and many west side city folk have been impatiently waiting for a sweet spot exactly like this.

this saturday, the grand opening of Sweet Moses will take place at 6800 detroit ave. i had the opportunity to attend the media preview this past weekend with the plum and was blown away by not only the treats and sweets, but the attention to detail brought forth by owner, Jeffrey Moreau.

i won’t get into any detail regarding the impeccable quality of the decor and furnishings right now. i think you should just check out this place for yourself! but i will tell you that the samplings of fudge, popcorns, toffee, peanut butter sandwiches and ice cream were amazeballs. and if you are in the mood for a larger sundae, you must try the “gordon square”.

for you ice cream lovers, sweet moses offers flavors such as belgian chocolate, butter pecan, cookies and cream, coffee and bananas foster. also, make sure to try the root beer floats and italian sodas!

p.s. – thanks to cleveland foodie for the invite!

word of the day – obnoxious

apparently there are some WordPress issues, because i cannot upload/insert any images in my posts right now.

speaking of issues, i am also quite engulfed in a number of others at the moment. please see below:

  1. blogging is a chore. between work, family, social life and volunteer work, it can be difficult to balance things out.
  2. there are way too many blogs that discuss the same cle topics. i can be placed in that same category and i would prefer to be different. i must brainstorm.
  3. there are way too many items i would like to purchase from CB2 before the 90s dance party next saturday.
  4. i have totally given up on exercising regularly. def need to purchase some roids.
  5. i need to start watching my words. i have been increasingly more verbal, violent and confrontational over the past year. a sign of self-confidence or just acts of stupidity?
  6. this damn kitty of ours keeps jumping on the counter tops and stove. are there any shock collars for cats?
  7. after complaining about cleaning black granite every day, you would think i wouldn’t have leased a new black car.
  8. these dress shoes i just purchased smell like gasoline. i had to take them off at work today because they were giving people headaches.
  9. the nug will not let me hire a cleaning service once a month even though i think it is well worth the money. cleaning sucks and i am the only one in this house that does it right (oh, snap). i have other things to work on besides dusting baseboards.
  10. can justin timberlake come out with some new music already!? the sexy that he brought back is now a lost memory.

i feel better now that i got that all out.

i know jump back ball was last weekend. and i know that i have been a bad blogger. due to being insanely busy last week (and still sick), i had no time to recap my crazy night at PlayhouseSquare’s biggest event of the year.

originally, i was going to start out by explaining how rough the night started and then get into my unexpected confrontation with an ignorant attendee. but then i got over it. instead, i would rather provide some positive images.

nug, me, lzone and moe looking like hot messes.

a little dancing with ck.

joe g. and kelly. both terrific dancers, fyi.

mark and moe. aren't they just darling. vom.

group shot - post kicking walter out of xyz the tavern.

thank you to PlayhouseSquare for providing our city with a terrific event for an even more terrific institution. can’t wait for next year!
